Microsoft, Google, IBM and salesforce join PAAS

Steven Hendrick, an IDC analyst who tracks the PAAS market, said that compared with competitors, enterprises using the PAAS cloud model can stand out. Microsoft has the most famous PAAS product in the market, namely its Azure Platform, but Tim o Brien, general manager of Microsoft and platform communicator, said that at present, the cloud environment is still mainly IAAs mode. The question of PAAS is, what is the difference between PAAS and IAAs? Simply put, IAAs is just a virtual machine or storage, while PAAS is a development architecture. Its concept is that developers develop software, and applications automatically configure virtual machines according to specifications. In order to facilitate the connection between PAAS and IAAs layers, Microsoft recently extended an IAAs product to the Azure Platform. O Brien said that this makes azure the most comprehensive cloud product in the market. He said that no supplier can achieve this breadth. In addition, the company also has 25 years of experience in cooperating with enterprise it. Emerging technology companies have no such experience at all, and there is no shortcut here

Peter Magnusson, Google's engineering director, said that compared with traditional IT giants, Google, as a completely interconnected and cloud based company, has its own advantages. The company's PAAS layer (called appengine) takes advantage of the wide range of services provided by the company, which can be integrated with other Google applications, such as its email, maps and other functions. Google launched the preview version of appengine in 2008, and officially released appengine that supports Java and python languages last year. although the other three suppliers have their own PAAS products, MAC Devine, head of cloud products and chief technology officer of IBM Global Technology Services, said that IBM's strategy is to launch PAAS applications. IBM divides PAAS into two categories: traditional applications that are converted to be delivered through the cloud environment, and new applications that are built from scratch in the PAAS environment. IBM has a range of cloud products, including its puresystems and smartcloud devices, which allow the migration of previous data and applications to the new PAAS environment.
